Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of counseling do you provide?
A: My practice includes personal/individual counseling for adults 17 and up. I also offer training, speaking, and consulting services.
Q: Are you taking new clients?
A: At this time I am not accepting new clients, however I am able to offer shorter consultations for specific issues or concerns; 1 – 10 sessions maximum. The consultation topics that can be addressed are
- Healing From The Body Level Up (HBLU) higher level patterns (modules 2-6)
- case consultation or supervision
- concerns involving money or finances, money coaching
- pathological relationships
- dream work
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: My goals of deeper introspection of the inner world and targeting the underlying roots of an issue are incongruent with the goals of the insurance companies, which is short term symptom alleviation.
Therefore, I am not on any insurance panels and I am considered an “out of network” provider with a few insurance companies and I can provide you with a statement that can be submitted for reimbursement if your specific plan includes out of network coverage for mental health services.
Sessions can be paid for with Flexible Spending or Health Savings account funds (HSA or FSA).
Q: What’s your personal approach to your counseling practice?
A: My education, experience, and approach are based on the principles of Depth Psychology. This simply means that I believe that healing (and feeling better) go directly with having a deeper understanding of our inner world.
We are all human, which makes us imperfect. However, we can still find happiness when we work through our problems in an environment that is open and non-judgmental. This work includes understanding and learning to accept all aspects of our inner self: our emotional, spiritual, and physical facets. Depth work is about listening to the language of the unconscious and having it act as a guide in the healing process.
I desire for us to find the root of your problem, retrieving the “hurt parts” of your soul, and then working through them, healing the traumatized “parts” so they can reintegrate back into the psyche to make you whole again.
Q: What is a counseling session with you like?
A: Even though you may feel nervous before you arrive, you can be reassured your first session will be as relaxed as possible. We’ll start by answering your questions, discussing confidentiality, and creating a safe and honest dialogue that you feel comfortable with.
You’ll be able to tell your story, share what is happening now, and discuss what you think is important in order to move forward. This is your time to focus on you – your thoughts, your emotions, your goals. We’ll then work through it together.
Q: How Long is a Session and how many sessions will I need?
A: Typically sessions are 50 minutes in length. Your first session might be 60-75 minutes to include time for paperwork. It is recommended in the beginning to attend sessions once a week, for at least 4-6 weeks, to create a good momentum towards progress and for us both to get to know each other. Every situation is different and after your first session we can discuss a plan that will best fit your personal goals and time and budget needs.
